Khorne and the Incarnates

End Times V: The conclusion?

First sneak peeks...

So the first leaks have sprung: Khorne is unleashed on the Warhammer world, and we see some unusual alliances (by Old WH) world standards

Blight King equivalent monstrous infantry (possibly two builds) and the attempts of the remaining denizens to counter the unleashing of Khorne:

So it appears the broad factions prepared by the first 3-4 books, now come to fruition, atackers and defenders both alike, you could say:

 The Blood Hunt:

  • 3 Named Greater Daemons- Blood Thirsters
  • The Huntsguards
  • The Hounds
  • The Barbadax (Skull cannon)

The Council of Incarnates

Malekith, Alariele, Balthasar, KFC, Nagash, Caradryan and Tyrion (Back from the dead)
PLUS the incarnate of beasts, GRIMGOR

The Berserker Onslaught:

  • Archaon
  • Character I Cant make out
  • Valkia the Bloody
  • The Skullrage (Skullcrushers)
  • The Goremongers (Blight Kings/Wrathmongers- more likely)

The Legion of Flame

  • Vilitch the Curseling
  • The Azure Princes
  • The Fireborne
  • The Crowfane Horde
  • Sons of StormDark
  • Crusher

Defenders of the Dead and Buried

  • Vlad Von Carstein
  • Mannfred Von Carstein
  • Luthor Harkon
  • Captain Drekla
  • The Drakenhof Templars
  • The Nosantra, Mannfreds Lieutenant

Fiends and Betrayers

  • Be'Lakor
  • Hellebron
  • Drycha and Coeddil
  • The Carnival of Silence
  • The Cult of the Blood Queen
  • The Wildkin

The Stolen and the Rotten

  • Isabella the Accursed
  • The Nameless
  • Festerheart
  • The Legion of Soulblight
  • Pusregnant the Glorious
  • The Dominated Dead

 The Host of Life
Alarielle incarnate of life
Durthu
The Everguard
The Ashenhawks
The Sisters of the Eternal Grove
Neastra and Arahan

The Incarnate Characters
 Sigvald seems to feature too:

New Greater Daemons of Khorne: 2 or 3 Different Builds? "~ Unfettered Fury"

"~ Headsmen of Khorne"

Exciting times ahead. So. No mention of Lizards, No Ogres, No Dwarfs.

Wood Elves: Denizens of Athel Loren Incoming

At Last: Wood Elves on the Horizon

Athel Loren are finally heading our way. Rex Foote must be rapped! He's been waiting so long!

They have now access to all the 8 colleges of magic, and Elven Dark and High. Call me cynical, but is this a push to make the WEs more popular ?

The latest White Dwarf ends with: "If you go out to the woods today... ...you'll be in for a big surprise."

From across the net:
Arriving in May Only a two week release - Armybook, magic cards and three plastic kits. Not a total overhaul and their fine cast kits - even the cavalry plastic-finecast-kits - stay valid. The only exception is the eternal guard. These have been dropped completely.

As expected, the new kits are multi-purpose, so it can be used for several different units.
Builds: Three hawk riders, which are one hawk and two surfers or three giant owl-like stonefeathers and six waywatchers. On top of that you can build a hero on hawk or on foot.

The second kit is a war dancer combination kit. The second unit wears varying animal masks and shields made of pelt on wooden frames. They have animal claws as weapons.

The last kit is tree ancient and meadow hag. The former is a giant-sized tree man with a huge beard made of bark. The latter has a crown of leaves and she has a skirt of roots instead of legs. Her hands grow into a web of thorns. The rest of the range stays as it is

The wood elves have very dynamic poses because almost all their units are skirmishers again and the sculptors didn't have to worry about spacing. Skirmishers work seamlessly with other regiments in 9th edition, so there will be no problem with this play style.

Durthu Rules

Durthu [WS7 BS7 S6 T6 W6 I2 A6 LD 10]  Lvl 1 Wiz, 2D6 shooting attack at S2 2D6 hits  or he can nominate a enemy single enemy model and force a I test if failed; D6 Wounds no AS.

A combo kit for Eternal Guard or whatever their name would be) -they look similar to all the new elf Shadowarrior/Sisters kits with their legs and armor -they have hoods on and halberds/scythes instead.

Araloth, another SC that has the Stubborn Special Rule and 5 attacks as well as when he's a alone he is Unbreakable. He has some magic items that are niche but some are clinical as well. For Example his "shooting attack": at the start of your turn nominate a single enemy model within 18in', they take a S4 hit. If the wound is unsaved and the to wound roll was a 6 they lose -5 WS and I for the rest of the game.

Additionally Forest Spirit gives: +6 Ward Save, ITP, Magical shooting and close combat attacks.

Dark Elves of Slaanesh Arrive: 1st WD leaked pictures

Dark Elves of Slaanesh arrive

The long awaited first wave of DE releases are out in the Oct WD. I am a bit underwhelmed by some models, and enthused by others from what I can see. The stats may well change my opinion.

We can probably expect a second wave of more nautically themed Corsairs/Admiral of the fleet hero next, with the new Riders and Chariots...

I particularly liked the sinister look of the faceless DE's of the previous edition, so I can't say that I am rapt with the poncy faced HE look! Have the rank and file been sanitised to make them unappealing and force other purchases? Looks like the Shrine and Cauldron got all the spikes and the troops lost their spike and spite. We need SPITE in our DE Armies. These guys look kind.(Apparently getting ASF  (reward for looking like HE? ) and Murderous prowess - see below ? Just Khainite units/characters) )

Either way the Cult of Khaine is on the rise. I always thought Khaine and Khorne were more interchangable, but it appears that there is a definite Slaaneshi lean to this release:

Photos in order of "Like" as far as I am concerned:

Like e'm a lot

Love 'em lotz

Nice

ok

ok

Ho-hum - could have done sooo much with a new hydra.
What do we get, the Friendly Lochness monster mutated... Lips don't work for me.
Not EVIL enough. Dark elves are EVIL. Like the dynamic handlers

The pose of the creature works, then heads, not for me.
Would probably build the Karibdyss from this kit, keep my old hydras.

Bleh! Bleh!
High elves masquesrading as Dark elves. where did the EVIL go?
Boring. No chance I'm gonna undate

Nooooo.....a step backwards

Rules Rumours (ex Warseer):

The sisters of slaughter are rares: enemies is base contact with them lose rank bonuses.

Hydras are specials can upgrade to get a strength 4 breath attack, no regeneration  but can regrow heads (recover lost wounds) just like the slann can with his discipline.

The karybdiss thing has a special ability that triggers when all 5 of its attacks hits ( gets an extra attack that inflicts additional hits) has a scaly skin save and causes terror. Enemy models in base contact must re roll successful leadership tests. Both use the monster and handler rules.

They have 2 signature spells just like high magic. One of the spells goes off on a 8+ and grants a unit +1 strength and then you gain D3 power dice but if you gain 3 power dice this way the wizard suffers a wound with no saves allowed.

The army has always strikes first.

Murderous Prowess: models with this rule re roll 1s when rolling to wound.

Wizards casting Dark Magic add plus 1 to their casting attempts.

Price Update (Ex Jossy at Plastic Crack)

Just received the price list for the Dark Elves release for New Zealand and Australia, and all us Kiwi's and Aussies will be very happy to know that the models at least are very close to what the US prices are!

(Not if you use the Big Mac Index, we are still paying for being on the backside of the earth and GW using outdated exchange rates - ed)

Dark Elf army book: $US 49.50 $AU 83 $NZ 98
Dark Elves Battle magic: $US 6 $AU 8.5 $NZ 10Shadowblade: $US 20 $AU 22 $NZ 26Dreadspears: $US 35 $AU 45 $NZ 50Witchelves: $US 60 $AU 70 $NZ 80Hydra: $US 65 $AU 70 $NZ 85Cauldron: $US 75 $AU 80 $NZ 95So this may well be considered a price increase for the US, but here in New Zealand and Australia this is a price drop!

I can see me getting the Witchelves/Sisters of Slaughter, Karybdis build, Cauldron (Build depends on stats), and of course the book. My wallet is groaning in trepidation....

White Dwarf Lizardmen Pics

Here they are, the first Lizardman Pics:
Blurry, but the 1st idea of what's coming. Dusting off my Lizardmen in anticipation!

Ripperdactyls, ridden, not vargeist-like monstrous units. Looking a bit more dynamic in this sculps

Gor-Rok, the great white warrior. New batallion box?

Skink priest, looking a little Orc-like in it's pose ?
Can't make out much on Tetto 'eko

Now this I like! (Lizards really need some artillery/rocklobber type thingy.)
Would be interested to see the stats and info

The alternative terradon build

New Carnosaur, less T-rex/allosaurish
