NZTC 2015 Photos and Winners

Warhammer Fantasy Battles New Zealand Team Championships 2014

The Kapiti Wargames Club fielded 2 teams: Legion of Doom and Pants Off!

Day 1: Gloves off, or was it shirts of and pants off?
After a brief kerfuffle to find a replacement player at no 99 when Rex took ill, Team Legion of Doom (LoD) arrived to take on the big guns of the NZ Warhammer world.

Roundly tipped to take the wooden spoon, as we had come close to in the preceding years, we proceeded to do battle.

Many thanks to Lockie Reid who stood in for the incapacitated Rex, ably fielding his Wood Elf army!
Hope you're feeling better, Rex! You missed a great tournament!

Not much time to do a write-up of my experience or the event (I will do it next week)
I am now hurriedly packing to go off on a school camp at the crack of sparrows tomorrow...

So, this is really not much more than a photo-dump.

May thanks to Pete and Tim for a fantastic event!

And no, we (LoD) did not take the wooden spoon either!

For full results check The Fields of Blood.

Pete and Tim, feel free to right-click and use my photos for your blogs
(It would be nice if you linked back to my blog or acknowledged some way)

Apologies for poor quality of Day 1 photos- taken with my phone

NZTC Time again: Legion of Doom flexing it's muscle (Yeah, right)

NZTC Time again: Legion of Doom flexing it's muscle

(Yeah, right)

So here we go again. The premier event on the New Zealand Wargames Caledar. The 2015 NZ Team Championship. The Legion of Doom are ready to defend their title. As undisputed holders of the Wooden Spoon, we sally forth to meet the challengers. Shelving the Dwarfs this time, we have opted for 2 shooty armies and 2 Power-fist armies. Dark Elves, Wood Elves (expected to be more competitive this year, with a new book, and better models and stats); Ogre Kingdoms and Daemons of Chaos.

So, underdogs of underdogs again, we are ready to rumble!

You only step on us ONCE !

Warhammer NZTC 2014 Coming up: Dark Elves Rising to the Challenge

New Zealand Team Competition looming: Dark Elves at the Ready

So with NZTC a week away, the sabres have started rattling, champions and heroes are strutting and posturing. Or is that the generals?
The crowd is not as vociferous as last year, but I suspect more scrutiny of lists and strategic planning is taking place. Last year a lot of matching-up took place on the day.

This year a lot more of the heavyweights of the NZ Warhammer Fantasy Tournament are taking part.
The lists also reflect that. There seems to be a lot less "fun" lists around, with quite a lot of deathstars, filthy lists in abundance. Looks like it will be tough battle.

Kapiti Wargames Club is fielding two teams: Beauty and the Beasts and 1/250 of the Legion of Doom

I am playing in the latter with Rex Foote, David Oemcke and my son Luc. Compared to the other team we are the newbies and comparatively green. We tend to play more for fun than competitively, but that is just the reason we are going! I'm taking the Hydra Bitch Bus and Luc his Ogre Death Star, Dave Dwarfs, and Rex Wood Elfs.

So this is how the field shapes up in terms of armies chosen for the event:
